Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 Team

Discover the 2020 Team!

Scuderia AlphaTauri is a “paradox” – a brand new name but at the same time, a renowned presence in Formula 1. In our previous incarnation as Scuderia Toro Rosso, we have taken part in the most important motor sport series on the planet since 2006 and the Faenza squad can trace its racing roots even further back than that.

Formula 1 today calls for a high level of specialisation in every area of design and manufacture and the contribution of every member of staff is vital: each small performance increase can make a big difference in the competitive world of F1, both on and off the track.

While our team has an Italian heart, our large family is made up of men and women from all over the world: in fact, there are no fewer than 35 different nationalities represented in our workforce. It is their hard work and experience that has seen the team feature as a protagonist in the F1 World Championship for over a decade.

And now we begin a new era, because Red Bull has entrusted us with the flagship role of promoting its own fashion label, AlphaTauri, which was created in 2016 and will now give its name to our team. On track and at our facilities in Faenza (Italy) and Bicester (UK,) nothing changes, but the look and feel of the team is brand new.

Scuderia AlphaTauri’s Team challenges F1

AlphaTauri is a stand-alone fashion brand featuring innovative fashion technologies integrated with high-quality and uniquely designed styles. The brand combines textile innovations, purposeful design and premium materials. Within the F1 environment AlphaTauri can progress and cement its pioneering approach with innovations and textile technologies, acquiring new insights from its involvement with us.

Apart from all these changes, 2020 is also the year in which we won again: Pierre Gasly triumphed in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, ensuring that the first year of the AlphaTauri Formula 1 era got off to a winning start with the AT01 car. We had done this before in Monza, back in 2008 when Sebastian Vettel won with the STR3, the third Toro Rosso car. This year’s win means that, apart from the top three – Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing – we are the only other team to have won a race since the introduction of the turbo-hybrid regulations in 2014. 2020 thus builds on the success we saw last season when we finished on the podium twice, courtesy of Daniil Kvyat’s third place in Germany and Pierre Gasly’s second in Brazil.

The Russian and the Frenchman make up our most experienced ever driver line-up, our technical team is largely unchanged and of course, Franz Tost is still at the helm, in the role of team principal, as he has been since 2005. Scuderia AlphaTauri, a new name with a well-established racing spirit.
