The car they will be driving at the Catalunya circuit, the STR9, has also moved forward, because like all the teams, we have brought some small aero updates along. After the vastness of the Shanghai paddock, here in Montmelo, everything feels much more intimate and if it seems more crowded then it’s not just down to the size of the place. We have all the trucks and hospitality units making their first appearance of the season and there are plenty of F1 people for whom this is the first race of the season – they’re the ones looking very excited and asking lots of questions.
There was no track action yesterday, at least for the cars, but in the afternoon, a huge crowd of people – drivers, team personnel and media – invaded the tarmac. It was all in a good cause as they were tackling a charity run for the “Make A Wish Foundation” a charity that tries to make wishes come true for children with life threatening illnesses.
